Bhutan VISA
All travelers to Bhutan require a visa before arrival, except visitors from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, who follow a slightly different process outlined below.
Visa Application Process
1. As part of your visa application, a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 per day (per adult) is required. Reduced rates apply for children.
2. Additionally, a one-time non-refundable visa application fee of USD 40 must be paid.
3. You can apply for your visa online by filling out an application form.
4. You can also apply for multiple travelers in your group as long as you have the necessary details for each person.
What You’ll Need to Apply Online
- Passport
- Must have a minimum validity of 6 months from your travel date to Bhutan
- Make sure the information page is clear and readable
- File format must be JPEG or PNG
Passport-Size Photograph
- Taken within the last 6 months
- Color photo, portrait style, with eyes open
- Forehead and ears must be clearly visible
- Photo must have a plain white background (no borders)

You can save your application at any point and return later to finish. Visa applications are usually processed within five working days. For any questions, feel free to contact our support team.
For Visitors from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives
India: Visitors require a permit instead of a visa. You can apply for this permit before your trip, or your Good Karma Travels can can apply on your behalf. No advance fees are required.
You may also apply for a permit upon arrival, but please be prepared for possible waiting times. A passport-size photo is needed if applying at the border. The Sustainable Development Fee is payable at the time of permit application, whether online or in person.
Bangladesh and Maldives: Visitors require a visa, following the same process and fees as other travelers, including the online application and payment of the SDF.
